We have started another level of restoration of xerothermic grasslands in Owczary area (Action C4)
As we mentioned in the former news, after the removal of invasive Robinia pseudoacacia and upper part of soil next action covers reintroduction of xerothermic plants. At Owczary subarea, at cleared plot (i.e. without vegetation) we selected 9 squares, 15 x 15 m each. Three squares were used for seed sowing; next three were used for grassland transplantations (we put 4 fragments per each square). The last three were left for natural regeneration.
We expect that the experiment will help us in answering the following question: whether active restoration (transplantation, sowing etc.) is necessary for the successful regeneration of the habitat. And if so, the experiment will help us in selecting the most effective method.
