On 19-23rd May, the 9th European Dry Grassland Meeting was held in Greece near the borders of Albania and the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). The topic of the conference was: 'Dry Grasslands of Europe: Grazing and Ecosystem Services'. After the second oral session, a honoring ceremony for Professor Arne Strid took place. At the EDGG General Assembly, Katarzyna Barańska, the manager of the 'Conservation and restoration of xerothermic grasslands in Poland - theory and practice' LIFE + project, announced the organization of the 10th EDGM in Zamość (Lublin province, SE Poland). During the excursions, attendants of the dry grassland meeting in Greece could observe many rare and interesting plant and animal species in the mountains surrounding the Prespa lakes (Mikri & Megali Prespa). The employees of the Naturalists' Club would like to thank the Executive Committee of the EDGG and the local representatives (especially Yannis Kazoglou and Yeoryios Fotiadis of the Hellenic Range and Pasture Society), for the organization of the meeting.
